a meditative sound walk
9 and 10 july, 2016
A path leading past five small waterfalls at the foot of the Hemelse Berg near Oosterbeek and my love of experimenting with binaural, stillness-inspiring sound prompted me to create a variation on Portable Silence 1 (the Dutch Cultural Media Fund 2008).
This time we are not immobile or blindfolded. We’re in the hills among the beech trees, walking slowly in single file accompanied by a guide. Along the way ears and eyes will meet where the landscape merges with the sound scape on the headphones.
Portable Silence 2 lasts around 12 minutes and was part of a walking route created for the Festival ‘Gelders Arcadië Echo van de Tijd’ (Arcadian Gelderland, Echo of Time).
